Exterior Building Cleaning Bristol

Exterior building cleaning Bristol has been reviewed after serious deterioration of a historic building.

The site, in Stokes Croft, has been a target for graffiti artists ever since Banksy cut his teeth spraying art in and around the area.

A dress maker, Gill Cockwell, whose shop is in the building affected, has pleaded with people to stop using the 100-year-old building as their canvas.

The building has been constantly pressure washed to remove the offending tags, to the point that now, according to Cockwell, the building is slowly being destroyed.

She has displayed a notice in the window which asks graffiti artists to cease and desist. She also highlights the issue of repeated exterior building cleaning bristol on such an old building.

“This building is made of beautiful Bath stone. The council have to use jet washers to remove graffiti from it.

The stone has begun to disintegrate and there is permanent damage.

The people who work here all run small independent businesses. We work very hard and put in long hours! We have all spent time cleaning the walls to try and preserve the building that we love when we could have been working.

It is heartbreaking to see this beautiful place being vandalized and 100 year old stone being permanently damaged for no good reason.

Please think before you tag! We would be so grateful.”

Bath stone is specific to the area and can come in a variety of tones and hues, however it does require special cleaning. Council officials have been using pressure washing in this circumstance – which is probably one of the most abrasive methods.

There are gentler ways of cleaning Bath stone, which may need to be reviewed. However in the meantime, the prevention of more graffiti is more of an issue. Cockwell has welcomed a discussion regarding the need of graffiti and may find a resolution through dialogue this way.

However, if you are going to clean Bath stone, it needs to be done using barely any pressure and little to no acidic chemicals. There are a few exterior building cleaning bristol methods which will not alter the building’s appearance and should be implemented infrequently as part of the building’s maintenance.

Bath Stone Cleaning should be undertaken by experienced stone cleaners and not council workers who are given the wrong tools to work with. Purple Rhino have vast experience in cleaning bath stone and can help with removing Graffiti.

A long term solution is needed and perhaps testing an area with an anti graffiti coating may be the best answer says Darran Smith of Purple Rhino
